Knowing when your decision is the right one for you.

It's always "meant to be" or "go with the flow" until it is something you actually want. You would do anything to fight for it, to plan it, or to make it happen for yourself; anything but letting it go into the hands of fate. Congratulations: if you've ever felt this way about anything, then you have a drive and passion for something. Not contemplating or weighing your decisions and simply ignoring it means you don't want to make a change for yourself badly enough. Everyone talks about how you need to let it go and follow your intuition in order to finally make a decision on what it is that you want to do or follow. I agree, you definitely need to stop worrying about it, but at the same time, decisions feel right once you put effort into them.
Effort and passion are needed in order to make any sort of change in your life. It's normal to analyze, plan, contemplate, and think of a million different possibilities and outcomes of making that decision. (It is not normal to overdo it.) Naturally, humans have a self-preservation instinct that some call a survival instinct. Although it has evolved with time and we don't have to fend for ourselves anymore, thank God, this instinct drives us towards making safe decisions in life. We don't want to put our safety and security at risk. For most people, taking risks and making life-altering changes requires deep explanation and reason, and once they can't find enough reason for it, boom, stagnation. For some, the biggest decision they make in life is the spouse they choose, yet people still go for it, bypassing all their fears. Why? It's because, in our minds, marriage is a symbol of love, commitment, and growth. We are emotionally tied to anything that brings us emotional satisfaction, connection, and experience. We are also tied to anything we believe is important, marriage being one.
With the world changing and evolving, we have been so lucky to get to pick what is important to us and our lives. We get to play around, tease ourselves with endless dreams and possibilities, explore every idea, every connection, and so on. We are so lucky to be alive today with this many options. This is what we have to focus on rather than feeling overwhelmed with all of these possibilities. A quick focus change can alter how we feel, help us manage decision-making, and help us stay present. If we get to pick what is important to us yet we still can't make a decision or move forward, perhaps we need to tap into our values.
What do you value? Is it living in joy, growing as a person, learning, making a change, finding love, financial security, independence, connecting with people? There are so many values that can help drive us or act as a filter for making any decision. You'll know when to go for it once you discover if that path correlates or intertwines with your values. Giving yourself time to think it over and then letting go of any fears is the first step. Your inner voice knows the answer.
The biggest indicator of knowing when to go for it is that step, that thing, or that path being on your mind all the time. You'll get daily moments and thoughts of the possibility of moving in that direction. Don't ignore it. Tap into it and be kinder to yourself. The breakthrough is a lot quieter than what we expect it to be. In fact, it is almost silent. You start leaning into it slowly or abruptly, without looking back. We all have the answers within us that we seek so hard, but to find them within ourselves, we have to make that first move or change. It's time to make a decision for yourself because the least thing you deserve is staying stagnant, in fear, and in one place.
